Course Structure:

Session 1: Induction

a) Pillow talk

• Getting to know each other, discussing music (in general)

b) Introduction to the concept of DAW (Ableton, Logic)

• Presentation of interface

• Familiarization with the concept of plugin/VST

• Understanding DAW structure (MIDI/audio, grid, quantize, automation, etc.)

c) Working techniques (beginner concepts)

• Methods and tools necessary to start a project

• Establishing a workflow

Course duration: 5 weeks / 30 hours
(2 x 3 hour sessions / week)

Session 2: Exploring

a) Introduction to the musical universe

• Musical scales

• Frequency spectrum

• Presentation of instruments and their arrangement based on the frequency spectrum

b) Breakdown of a song (musical project)

• Notions of percussion/drums, bass, harmonic part

• Learning plugin/VST (EQ, compression, reverb, delay, etc.)

Sessions 3 - 9: Let’s get serious!

Let's get down to business, start your own project!

• We start with an arrangement of the song

• Continue with a structure

• Finish with a nearly completed song

• You start working on a different track as homework, also under my supervision

Session 10: Final touch

• Final mix and master

• At the end of the course you will have 2 tracks: 1 finished during our sessions and 1 finished as homework
